Growing up, I was fascinated by how music drew people together - whether it was practicing for my intergenerational extended family, performing in studio recitals, or accompanying my school musical.  It was this idea of creating community through a shared language that inspired me to pursue music.

A native of Vancouver, Canada, pianist Judy Woo has performed as a soloist at the ArtSpring Theater on Saltspring Island, the Orpheum Theater in Vancouver and at International House New York.  A first place winner of the Canadian Music Competitions, her repertoire ranges from Corigliano, Louie and Bach to Schumann, Ligeti and Messiaen.  She is a recipient of multiple awards and scholarships, including the Johann Strauss Foundation Award. An avid chamber musician, Judy Woo has collaborated in a piano trio, as a duo with clarinet, and with vocalists. She spent four summers as Artist in Residence at the Banff Centre for the Arts.

In performance, she sparks in audiences a fresh perspective on traditional repertoire, by pairing with new works and drawing unexpected connections.  Committed to drawing new audiences, Judy Woo creates community through music.
